Nurture
What is the Garden room?
The garden is our Nurture room where children can learn, develop and grow in a safe space based on their individual needs.
Children may come because they need support in lots of different areas. Some may include:
- Social skills
- Behaviour support
- Managing emotions
- Concentration skills
- Sharing
- Language and communication skills
How do children learn?
- Children still follow the school curriculum based on their individual learning needs, allowing it to be more personalised.
- Learning is carefully planned to allow each child to raise their achievement levels.
- Children work one to one or in pairs/small groups.
- Lots of activity-based learning using play.
- Children are given individual targets to work towards.
When will children return to class?
- Children stay in The Garden between 2 and 4 school terms.
- Staff work together to keep close links with the base class – assemblies, lunch times, registration, school trips etc.
- Children are phased back into their base class gradually when they are ready.
Working with Parents
Working with parents is very important to us. While your child is with us, we will invite you to attend stay and play sessions and regular parent meetings.
